I’m angry at the portrayal of poor, working-class people in this country and the idea that, somehow, poor people, working-class people, have it easier, or that they’re lazy, or that they don’t want, or that they don’t deserve help. You can’t actually have lived in a poor neighborhood, seen how hard it is to live in our neighborhoods, and managed everything from public transportation to schools to crime to finding decent groceries.

School is really important: Reading, writing, arithmetic. But what they tend to do is teach you reading, writing, arithmetic…then teach you reading, writing, arithmetic again. Then again, then again, just making it harder and harder just to keep you busy. And that’s where I think they messed up. There should be a class on drugs. There should be a class on sex education. No, REAL sex education class, not just pictures and illogical terms…There should be a class on scams, there should be a class on religious cults, there should be a class on police brutality, there should be a class on apartheid, there should be a class on racism in America, there should be a class on why people are hungry, but there not, their class is on…gym….Their class is like Algebra. we have yet to go a store and said, “Can I have X Y + 2 and give me my Y change back, thank you.” You know?…Like foreign languages. I think that they are important, but I don’t think it should be required. Actually, they should be teaching you English, and then teach you how to understand double talk, politician’s double talk. Not teaching you how to understand French and Spanish and GERMAN. When am I going to Germany? I can’t afford to pay my rent in America! How am I going to Germany?

Opinions, Materialism, Character… They’re Connected

So… Opinions… Something EVERYONE is entitled to right? Then why do people so often feel like they are the only one who should have one? Or that theirs is the only one that matters?

Too often I find myself indulged in conversation with some people who just “know it all.” I get kind of frustrated and wonder what makes this person think that their opinion is so valuable?

When not in conversation, I see it pop up on my twitter timeline. I have found myself becoming annoyed lately because I absolutely hate when someone feels like their OPINION is law. I hate seeing stuff like “I cant wait until feather earrings go out of style” or “people who use EBT shouldn’t be able to vote” because these same people shooting out these opinions are the same ones posted in a picture with their “friend” telling her she’s cute with her feather earrings on or using all of his/her friend’s food stamps. Opinions can really have you putting your foot in your mouth later.

Yes I have an opinion and I voice it, however I don’t think my opinion is what everyone should live by and I don’t try to force anyone to do so. What works for me may not work for you boo boo. lol

Lately I have been in a bubble, but when I came out of it I sort of wished I would have stayed. Too many people are judgmental and I hate it. I don’t judge people based on what they do or don’t have. I study their character and take notes. Many people don’t know how to separate the two. It’s cool to want nice things, but it’s not cool to form an opinion of someone because they can’t get what you have.

People call me mean because I say some off the wall stuff (another opinion), but I’d rather be mean than shallow. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I just think sometimes you have to draw the line and know when to shut up. It’s better to be quiet than to open your mouth and prove that you really are a fool.

I’m young, I don’t know much, but I know God won’t care what brand of pants you’re wearing or what kind of phone you have on judgment day.
